Public hearing on HB 670: Conscience protection for health care workers

By February 2, 2015January 17th, 2022No Comments

Let’s stand behind our pro-life health care workers. Support HB 670.

On Thursday, February 5, a New Hampshire House committee will hear HB 670, to protect the conscience rights of health care professionals. Please join us in contacting members of the Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee (HHSEA), asking them to respect medical workers’ beliefs.

We make a special appeal to you if you are a nurse practitioner, a doctor, a nurse’s aide, even a pharmacy tech. Your voice will mean a great deal. Pass this on to every pro-life health care professional you know.

No one should be at risk of losing a job because of refusal to assist in an abortion. HB 670 covers much more ground than that, but at a minimum, it would protect anyone in a medical field who has conscientious objections to any procedure.

You can read the full bill on the legislative web site. Its sponsors are Reps. Warren Groen of Rochester and Richard Gordon of East Kingston. The email address for the full HHSEA committee is , and information on the committee members is here.

Do you have a suggestion for the committee on how the bill should be re-worded or improved? Tell them so. What they should NOT do is dismiss the bill altogether.

If you can attend the hearing, it’s at 2:15 in room 205 of the Legislative Office Building in Concord on State Street, across from the back doors of the State House.
