- Federally Qualified Health Centers (shown): provide comprehensive health services (not just reproductive-related) regardless of ability to pay. They use a sliding fee scale based on income.
- Pregnancy Resource Centers (shown): offer free assistance to those expecting a baby or who may be pregnant. Services can include pregnancy tests, abortion counseling, material support (like diapers and strollers), ultrasounds, classes, and more. Note that because these are donor-sponsored non-profits, they have no financial incentive to steer you towards aborting a child.
- Prenatal, Gynecological and Obstetric clinics: Specialized clinics for mothers and pre-born children that may take regular health insurance or Medicaid (be sure to check with your plan). Some (especially charitable ones, like Catholic Medical Center) may offer reduced or no-fee options.
- Family, Primary and Pediatric clinics: General practice medical providers who can meet a wide variety of medical needs. They may take regular health insurance or Medicaid (be sure to check with your plan).
- STD Testing: Many Urgent Care Clinics and general testing locations offer relatively inexpensive STD testing to the public.
- Adoption and Foster Care: Agencies that will assist expecting mothers who don’t feel ready to care for their children to find loving families for them.
- WIC Clinic: Federal program clinics for low-income mothers and their children for heavily discounted or free food and nutrition counseling.
- Resident Homes & Emergency Shelters: Offer shelter to mothers in need, both during and after pregnancy. Program details differ, so be sure to check with them.
- Other Crucial Organizations: These can help with other needs, like food access, substance recovery, and domestic/sexual violence prevention.
