A BAD proposed NH state constitutional amendment is before the NH legislature, which would add an explicit right to privacy to the NH state constitution. Roe v. Wade in 1973 legalized abortion on the pretext that abortion is supposedly protected by an implied privacy right in the US constitution. If this passes, regardless of any potential theoretical merits, two practical outcomes are certain:
- Legal-abortion advocates would trumpet that abortion is formally protected by the NH Constitution.
- Liberal courts would use this as a sledge hammer to overrule any restrictions on abortion.
This may be voted on as early as Wednesday March 9.
Please,
- Call your NH State Representatives IMMEDIATELY (Reps by town: http://gencourt.state.nh.us/house/members/wml.aspx), and
- Ask them to vote NO on the “privacy” constitutional amendment CACR 22.
